Database Administrator
Department: Information and Media Technologies
Responsibilities: The Database Administrator’s responsibility is to perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of all MSSQL and MySQL databases at Full Sail University .The idea candidate will also work closely with the development team and may take charge of deploying changes to production databases. This person will need to be available to resolve database problems on short notice, even in off-hours. The Database Administrator should also keep up with future versions of SQL Server and related products and be able to test these for compatibility and performance.
Requirements: • 5+ years experience supporting databases in use for enterprise-level applications. • Advanced experience with Storage Architectures and Storage Area Networks with regard to MSSQL, MySQL and NetAppliance. • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, including creation of views, stored procedures, and custom functions. • Advanced knowledge of DTS and SSIS. • Experience with monitoring and problem notification for enterprise-critical applications. • Methodical, consistent and patient approach to troubleshooting.
Education/Training: B.S./ MIS degree highly desirable
Skills Needed: • Excellent organizational skills. • Intermediate knowledge of reporting writing practices. • Strong understating of relational database design best practices. • Strong understanding of NetAppliance tools such as FlexClone and SnapManager for MSSQL. • Ability to juggle many small and important projects, along with ongoing maintenance and reporting tasks.
