Essential Functions:
Performs general patient care to patients in a role under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Assists patient with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs. Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe and clean environment. Transports and discharges patients. Demonstrates competency in unit specific tasks and skills as defined by unit specific competency list. Documents according to unit specific policies and guidelines. Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient's condition to the R.N. and other members of the healthcare team. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit. Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests. Transports and delivers items and equipment throughout the facility.
Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned. Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. The Clinical Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's / area's / department's policies and procedures. Practices efficient use of supplies. Attends meetings and in-services. Completes all mandatory training. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education / Training:
High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion: · of a State of Florida Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant Program · or nursing student who has completed one semester of clinical rotation · and successful completion of a phlebotomy class (within 6 months of hire)
Licensure/Certification:
Maintains current BLS certification.
Experience:
Three (3) months recent experience in related healthcare field
