JOB DESCRIPTION |
|
The Underwriting Manager is accountable for developing, monitoring, and executing all aspects of the company underwriting and product development functions. Position manages assigned resources to support strategic and operational objectives for optimal efficiency and effectiveness. Position makes recommendations to change underwriting guidelines and programs and works closely with executive management to ensure the appropriate coordination and implementation of initiatives, campaigns, programs and projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in all aspects relating to developing, monitoring and managing a personal lines property product line; Participates in research and analysis of new product ideas and interprets results; Works with management to evaluate the cost/benefit of market opportunities and new initiatives; Monitors and audits underwriting activity to ensure regulatory compliance; Reviews applications, outside reports and other information to determine if application is acceptable for very complex situations; Rates policies or check previously rated policies for proper rating; Assists Call Center employees with comments or questions about applications and endorsements and the likelihood of acceptance; Reviews policies for renewal consideration; Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Skills
Minimum of 3 - 5 years personal lines property underwriting experience required - manufactured home experience preferred; Minimum of 2 years management experience; Professional certifications beneficial; Product development experience and contract knowledge preferred; Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion; Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail; Knowledge of Microsoft Office software; Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
