Adjunct Professor, Sustainability & Renewable Energy (EMERGE Grant)

Seminole State College is seeking talented adjunct faculty with a personal and professional commitment to student learning and creating an atmosphere of quality instruction. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative faculty educating highly motivated students. We are located in the greater Orlando metropolitan area and serve Central Florida with six sites and more than 32,000 students and are one of the fastest-growing state colleges in Florida, offering more than 190 degrees and programs, including six bachelor's degrees. This is a temporary part-time grant funded adjunct teaching position. Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and are reviewed by the Department Chair when openings become available. Responsibilities include planning, organizing and teaching classes as assigned. Teaching strategies will be incorporated to foster student learning, success and retention. Will work with other faculty in support of curricula improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies. The person in this position will plan, organize and teach classes as assigned. Flexible hours and days, assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.

Required Qualifications:

OPTION 1: Master's degree in Architecture, Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences, Building Construction, Built Environment, Community Planning, Design, Earth Science, Energy Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Planning, or Sustainable Design Studies.

OPTION 2: Master's degree with Graduate Certificate in field:

· Alternative Energy
· Environmental Policy, or related field
· Green & Sustainable Building Systems
· Sustainable Construction

· Sustainable Design

· Sustainable Development

· Sustainable Engineering

OPTION 3: Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the following disciplines:
· Alternative Energy
· Environmental Policy
· Green & Sustainable Building Systems
· Sustainable Construction

· Sustainable Design

· Sustainable Development

· Sustainable Engineering

AND

Sustainable Professional Credential:

LEED AP, LEED AP ID+C, LEED AP BD+C, LEED AP O+M, LEED GA, Green Globes, SFP or similar.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Industry experience in the field.

2. Applicable licensures or certifications.

3. Three (3) or more years of teaching experience.

Work Environment and Special Considerations:

Adjunct professors instruct on-site in classrooms and laboratory spaces or within an online course environment. Classes may be scheduled in the daytime or evenings depending on course topic and enrollment needs.
