We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Facilities Electronics Systems Coordinator. This position is responsible for coordinating and/or performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, operation and component level repair of one or more electronic systems throughout Orange County Facilities.

  Representative Duties    

  • Oversees the installation, testing, adjusting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacement of a full range of electronic equipment and systems.

  • Assists with the management of the Energy Management and Lighting Control Systems including but not limited to: perform schedule changes, receive and validate alarms, generate work orders for action by technicians, optimize operating sequences for energy savings, reviews historical trends for control, field tests control points, and verify on-going proper operation.

  • Uses specialized tools and software to adjust equipment/systems and diagnose problems.

  • Participates with management, engineers, and contractors in reviewing plans for proposed electronic systems.  Recommends changes or modifications in drawings and specifications, substitutions, and methods of installation for all electronic control equipment.

  • Utilizes working knowledge of all building automation and fire control systems.

  • Assure all electronic systems are compliant with Florida building and NFPA codes.(for example smoke control and fire alarm systems)

  • Responsible for keeping all electrical, electronic, and fire control systems in good repair, operating safely, and ensures all documentation is complete and properly filed.

  • Provide recommendations regarding planning and coordinating, preventive maintenance procedures, upgrades, replacements, or improvements to existing facilities, and new equipment installations in County facilities.  

  • Analyzes and monitors utility billings for the purpose of developing baselines to quantify energy impacts and recommending methods of cost containment. 

  • Responds and resolves emergency requests regarding malfunctioning electronic systems.

  • Monitors contract services to ensure quality standards are met and contractor is in compliance with maintenance contracts.

  • Assist district with planning, coordinating, and implementing emergency responses to all facility crisis events.

  • Assists with the annual budget process including identifying Capital Improvement Projects and the monitoring of district expenditures.

  • Advises on electrical safety and utilizes safe work practices in all assigned tasks.

  • Prepares Standard Operating Procedures for operation, monitoring and testing of fire alarm/control/suppression and voice evacuation systems.

  • Reviews contractor submittals, including plans and specifications, and recommends solutions to other engineering and inspection staff as to prescribed procedures, practices, and methods to be followed in ensuring contract compliance.

  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications    

Associate of Science degree in electronics or computer science or closely related field and a total of five (5) years of experience in component level troubleshooting and repair in at two of the following three areas: fire protection/suppression systems; building automation systems; and building security systems. Experience reading blue prints, schematics, and logic diagrams of systems. Additional experience may be substituted for educational requirements on a year for year basis.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license by date of hire. 
Will be required to perform mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.

Preferences    

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in electronics or computer science.

Specialized training in fire alarm/control/suppression and lighting control systems.

Specialized training in building automation systems.

Experience with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems) such as Maximo.

Possess Fire Alarm System Agent (FASA) certification

Experience in component level troubleshooting and repair in lighting control systems

Notes    

All candidates selected for hire in the Administrative Services Department must successfully complete a Criminal History and Background check.
Hours will vary according to operational needs to include 2nd and 3rd shift and weekends if necessary.  Normal work hours are currently 7:00am to 4:00pm.  The assignment will be at Facilities Management 33rd Street.  However, this position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location due to project, task, or operational requirements
