We are seeking a Permit Agent for our large energy client.  The Permit Agent will be responsible for permitting transmission capital projects for transmission lines.  These projects may be for new transmission facilities and/or modifications of existing transmission facilities or transmission facilities for customer or generation sites.  The incumbent will be accountable to ensure the permitting activities are planned and executed within the defined scope, budget and agreed upon schedule. This is a contract position at the client offices, with employment through a third party firm - both to be named after interviews.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Liaison for all State DOT, Local Government Agencies and Municipalities for application, processing and securing right of way and construction permitting
  • Maintaining a high level of cooperation and coordination between Agencies and company through active participation in Local and State Utility Coordination Groups
  • Oversee the development of construction and right of way permitting packages for content and accuracy
  • Consultant to all internal and external customers on permitting issues, right of way utilization guidelines, Government Agency Codes and Ordinances to insure compliance and to support and maintain company rights
  • Develop and update procedures including checklists for quality control between Line Engineering and Acquisition
  • Interpret and create all forms of legal descriptions
  • Interpret Road Right of Way plans and engineering plans and profiles
  • Train new employees an contract permit agents when necessary

  • Coordinating with project management, line engineering, construction and maintenance
  • Creating and implementing processes and strategies in support of transmission construction projects
  • Ensuring that all assigned functions will meet regulatory requirements, state and federal requirements and corporate policy, procedures and standards.

Qualifications:

Florida Real Estate License preferred

BS Degree in Business or Engineering preferred

1-4 years of related work experience, or equiavalent combination of work experience and education, as a Permit Agent in the Utilities sector is required

Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to build strong business relationships
