Maintenance Technician II

General Function

 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director or Facility Director, the Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance of building equipment and property within the Family Center. The Maintenance Technician supports member participation and retention through assisting the Facility department in achieving strategic goals and providing outstanding customer service to all members.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform basic to moderately complex maintenance duties to ensure the building equipment and property are in good operating condition, including conducting minor electrical and plumbing repairs, HVAC repairs, equipment repairs, painting, and assisting with general cleaning of the facility.
  • Assists the Executive Director or Facility Director with instructing and directing the work of one or two Facilities employees, including the production of weekly schedules.
  • Collaborate with Family Center department leads to complete all work orders, special projects and other maintenance needs.
  • Assist the Executive Director or Facility Director to resolve any safety maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Monitor daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of Central Florida health and safety standards and policies.
  • Purchase equipment, parts and supplies approved by the purchase requisition process. Assist in controlling department purchasing costs within the budget and financial guidelines.
  • Pick up supplies from local vendors as needed.
  • Assist with deliveries and ensure shipments are transported to the appropriate areas.
  • Maintain compliance with required documentation of MSDS manual and all OSHA standards.
  • Remain knowledgeable of all safety and risk management procedures and respond appropriately as trained in emergency situations.
  • Assist the Executive Director or Facility Director in coordinating annual building and fire inspections.
  • Assist in identifying active volunteers for the Family Center Annual Scholarship Campaign.
  • Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida in the Family Center and its programs.
  • All other duties assigned by Management.

 

Job Requirements

 

To be successful, you must meet education, training and experience requirements, and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Education, Training and Experience

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-7 years building maintenance, grounds keeping and/or general repair experience required.
  • Additional training and/or certification in HVAC, plumbing or electrical desired.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Working Conditions

 

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. in various forms.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within Central Florida. Must have valid Florida driver license.
  • May be required to sit, stand or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perform strenuous physical tasks as needed.
  • May be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time. May be exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions and temperatures and to wet and/or humid conditions in swimming pool areas.
  • May be required to work with hazardous chemicals (i.e. pool chemicals, cleaning solutions, disinfectants, etc.).
  • Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and members’ well-being.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment.
  • Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
