Web Applications Programmer

Closing date: May 5, 2014.

DESCRIPTION:
Programs and maintains high-performance Web applications for Seminole State College's Web properties; integrate sites with back-end applications, and migrates applications to the Web. Knowledge of PHP and various Web development languages and technologies are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops, codes, installs, tests, debugs and documents Web applications.
2. Works with database administrator to design, develop, and update relational databases as they pertain to Web applications.
3. Develops, implements, and adheres to regular Web site maintenance policies and procedures, including end user content change request forms and posted update/maintenance schedules, to ensure site accuracy and timeliness.
4. Identifies, diagnoses and fixes web site problems
5. Creates standardized documentation representing input parameters and operational procedures necessary to the proper execution of the program.
6. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the functionality available in and the structure of the college's administrative data systems.
7. Coordinates with the operations staff in program execution, sequence of execution and job flow development.
8. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Programming, IT, or related field from a 4-year accredited college.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two (2) years documented work experience in the field of programming.
• Advanced understanding of the PHP programming language, XHTML (including W3 validation), HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets, Regex, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated proficiency in object oriented programming, database design and programming principles.
• Experience with PHP frameworks such as Zend or Symfony.
• Advanced knowledge of Web protocols and programming requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system and Apache.
• Skilled in organization and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in an interactive, diverse environment while adapting to shifting priorities.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Works inside in an office environment.
2. Flexible work hours/days.
3. Travel as required.
