PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

The Physician Assistant (PA) is an independent health care provider, who, working collaboratively within a multi disciplinary health care team, is responsible for patient evaluation and care through the performance of pertinent history and physical examination, assessment of need and delivery of appropriate treatment. The PA is granted affiliate staff privileges by Halifax Health Staff. These privileges list specific tasks and are reviewed every two years. The decision to permit the PA to perform a task under direct or indirect supervision is made by the Supervising Physician based on reasonable medical judgment regarding the probability of morbidity or mortality to the patient.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited program leading to certification as a Physician's Assistant required.

• Certification as a Physician's Assistant by the Florida Board of Medical Education and Licensure required.

• Previous experience is preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills required to instruct patients and their families and to collaborate with health team members.
