Halifax Health is seeking a Nursing/House Supervisor for the Halifax Health Port Orange Hospital.

The Nursing Supervisor is a registered nurse that provides administrative support while ensuring the quality and safety of the patient care delivery.  This person is responsible for coordinating, organizing and supervising the provision of patient care in the Halifax Health Port Orange Hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current valid Florida RN license
  • Some experience in critical care required
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required.
  • Works well with others, utilizing interdisciplinary approach, in defining and working toward common goals; strives to maintain good interdepartmental relationships
  • Must demonstrate clinical competency and effective leadership skills. 
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to manage time and resources effectively through good organization and prioritization of work. 
  • Ability to function independently and interdependently. 
  • Must promote good public relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and the community.
  • Possesses initiative, promotes a positive environment, and fosters teamwork.
  • Able to handle high levels of stress due to varying and unpredictable situations

 Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction to staff members in the delivery of patient care.
  • Provides direction to nursing staff when there is a surge or decrease in census; intervenes during crisis and emergency situations providing guidance to staff.
  • Investigates patient care incidents and intervenes as appropriate.
  • Addresses patient complaints and grievances immediately and forwards concerns as appropriate.
  • Creates a positive work environment; promoting the hospital and nursing division’s mission and vision.
  • Serves as a role model and mentor for staff.
  • Continually evaluates the attitudes, morale, and interpersonal relationships of staff members; promotes methods to improve in these areas; consistently motivates staff in a positive manner. 
  • Ensures real time communication with staff as appropriate and addresses questions and concerns.
  • Supports established organization and department policies.
  • Provides feedback to the staff; assists in increased staff awareness of topics and matters of significance to them.
  • Assists with the completion of performance evaluations for department personnel as assigned.
  • When appropriate, initiates the disciplinary process, does not wait to take action.
