Course Director, Mobile Player Experience

Winter Park, Florida

This opening is for general consideration for Faculty positions within the Full Sail University Education Department. Course Directors ensure excellence in teaching skills and classroom content, manage instructors and lab personnel to deliver the same excellence in the labs, ensure personal service to students, maintain continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan and design and/or maintain curriculum to ensure industry standards are being met. Mobile Player Experience
The Mobile Player Experience Course focuses on the fun factor incorporated into casual game play on mobile devices. Unlike user experience in that it focuses on increasing efficiency and ease-of-use of task-oriented, productivity applications, player experience focuses on increasing player engagement and enjoyment with immersive applications. In this course students gain a fundamental understanding of game mechanics to help set the pace for players on mobile devices. Students examine and utilize the four fun keys to develop short rewarding mobile games that create immersive and emotionally engaging player experiences.

Education/Training

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four years related and verifiable experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, Project Management, Media/Interactive Design or related field. Industry experience must include mobile development, media design, computer programming or closely related business. Teaching experience is preferred and the candidate must have a passion for education. Candidates applying will be reviewed for various open teaching positions. Depending on the course level, requirements will be varied based on our Accrediting Commission (ACCSC).

Skills Needed
Broad base knowledge in mobile development, computer programming, interactive design, and business. Must be proficient in Mac and PC platforms, and have strong social media skills.

Candidates will need to have significant experience in either:

1. Java development, including Android applications for mobile devices. Familiarity with publishing to Google Play (Android Market) and/or Amazon App Store for Android is highly desirable

2. iOS development, including apps for the iPhone, iPad, and/or iPod touch. Familiarity with publishing to the App Store is highly desirable. Casual game development experience, including Cocos2D or related technologies is a plus.

All faculty positions require excellent oral and written communication skills, passion to encourage learning, self-motivated team member, and the ability to help develop curriculum. Teaching positions will require campus and online teaching.
