Course Director, English as a Second Language "ESL" (Accent Redux)

Winter Park, Florida

This opening is for general consideration for Faculty positions within the Full Sail University Education Department. Course Directors ensure excellence in teaching skills and classroom content, manage instructors and lab personnel to deliver the same excellence in the labs, ensure personal service to students, maintain continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan and design and/or maintain curriculum to ensure industry standards are being met. Accent Redux
In the Accent Redux course, or Accent Reduction and Pronunciation, students will improve the clarity and accuracy of their pronunciation through accent-reduction training. The course offers opportunities for students to stage theater plays, radio shows, and other interactive events to supplement their practice.

Education/Training
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three years related and verifiable experience and a Bachelor’s degree in English or ESL related field; state or equivalent credentials in Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); effective English speaking and writing skills, and a comfort level with or appropriate experience with technology. Preferred but not required: prior teaching experience, curriculum development experience, experience working/living/studying abroad, ability to speak/write a second language. Candidates applying will be reviewed for various open teaching positions. Depending on the course level, requirements will be varied based on our Accrediting Commission (ACCSC).

Skills Needed
The candidate should be passionate about teaching and well versed in challenges that face today's college student. Additional skills needed: strong teaching and curriculum development skills, strong mentoring and student support skills, knowledge of best practices in teaching ESL, strong organizational skills, skilled in MS Office (mainly Word, Keynote), iPad applications, iBook creation, ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and people from a variety of cultures, and ability to learn new technologies. All faculty positions require excellent oral and written communication skills and a passion to encourage learning. The best candidates are self-motivated, love to work in teams, and have the ability to help develop curriculum. Teaching positions will require campus and online teaching.
