Facility Maintenance Specialist

CLASSIFICATION:    Facility Maintenance Specialist
HOURS:    8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Associate’s Degree (A.A. / A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Florida State Driver License.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:    General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: general maintenance (repair of doors, locks, ceiling tiles, flooring, carpet, tile & grout repair, paint application), plumbing (repair shower heads, PVC plastic piping, clear blockages in waste system), electrical (replacement of lighting globes, lamps, and fixture parts), HVAC systems (inspect unit coils, fins, screens, filters). Must be familiar and competent with common hand tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:    Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:    Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud.
