Recognized as one of the Top Places to Work by major publications, Franklin Street Insurance Services is currently seeking an entry level Commercial Insurance Assistant for our corporate headquarters located in the Westshore area of Tampa.

The Commercial Insurance Assistant will support our group of insurance agents and enable them to reach a high level of production and provide exceptional customer service to our clients. Successful candidates will be those with strong systems proficiency (Insurance agency software (AMS360) and Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.) and an enthusiasm for customer service. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keys initial policy information into agency management software system (AMS 360). Keeps coverage information, endorsements, and correspondence updated in the management database system on an ongoing basis to ensure real time information. Updates multiple database systems and spreadsheets.
  • Manages the workflow of client electronic paperwork for the agents.
  • Prepares and arranges delivery of basic certificates of insurance to customers.
  • Performs desktop publishing on regular basis to assist in the creation of marketing materials and assists in the creation of PowerPoint presentations.  Types and produces general correspondence, memos, charts, business and financial reports, etc.
  • Responds to inquiries from clients and communicates with client representatives to gather signed documents, deliver signed documents to underwriters, and obtain any additional information to finalize bind requests from agents (ex: loss runs). Follows up with underwriters for quotes.
  • Will learn to develop and maintain client relationships during the management and renewal process of assigned insurance accounts to ensure excellent customer service and account retention.
  • Covers the reception area and provides customer service for callers and visitors approximately 1-2 hours per week. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATIONAL/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • An active Customer Service License (4-40) or a Property and Casualty Insurance License (2-20) is preferred, but candidates with insurance agency experience who seek to obtain a 4-40 license soon after hire will be considered.
  • Experience using AMS 360 or similar insurance industry software strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and related software required.
  • Ability to type 45-50 wpm or faster required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have very strong systems proficiency.  Must have knowledge of secretarial, office administrative procedures, and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through 1+ year(s) of related experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting an insurance agency - commercial lines only – preferably in the P&C specialty area – not required, but a plus.
  • Analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various problems, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to represent the company professionally in front of guests with a pleasant demeanor, and customer service focus.  Professional business attire is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (both in person and over the phone).  Must be able to speak clearly and concisely. 
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced business environment.
