EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two-year degree required
  • Bachelor degree preferred

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three plus years of work experience in the medical field (orthopaedics a plus) using medical and business software applications; familiar with health practice operations and patient flow
  • Three plus years of experience working with healthcare applications; specifically, GE Centricity Practice Management, WorkFlow EHR and IBM Cognos Analyzer
  • Three plus years of experience working with HL7 interface design and development 
  • Three plus years of work experience in data analysis, decision support, business analysis, requirements documenting
  • Three plus years of work experience with Meaningful Use regulations and standards
  • Proficient use of email, word processing and architectural design software; specifically MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Visio
  • Experience with MS SharePoint is a plus
  • Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, physicians, subject matter experts
  • Ability to think analytically and problem solve
  • Ability to perform well in stressful situations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Application / Software Support

  • Serve as liaison between software vendor(s), business managers and end users; respond to inquiries and concerns promptly
  • Coordinate Practice Management / EHR software upgrades and test modifications prior to release to end-user
  • Analyze business processes to ensure proper system use and configuration
  • Evaluate EHR software enhancement requests for feasibility and practicality
  • Log, track and resolve issues as well as any software modifications or enhancements
  • Troubleshoot issues/problems with the EHR and Practice Management software
  • Analyze and implement EHR form change requests to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage the physician favorites within the EHR software
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and review of software applications; identify problems and develop appropriate solutions
  • Understand new features within the software applications and recommend solutions that are in line with the practice’s operations
  • Regularly review deleted documents within the EHR software to ensure data integrity within the patient chart
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of Practice Management and EHR software as it relates to the practice’s operations and the various job functions

Office / Physician Support

  • Create and modify physician templates for appointment scheduling within the GE Centricity Practice Management software
  • Evaluate and implement changes to the physician’s master template within the GE Centricity Practice Management software
  • Resolve duplicate account information within both the Practice Management and EHR software
  • Provide multilevel application support to user questions and/or issues, including features of the Practice Management and EHR solutions
  • Write and troubleshoot reports in Analyzer for the Director of Revenue Cycle Management
  • Create and maintain user information for insurance eligibility websites
  • Create and maintain user accounts for the both the computer and software applications; includes disabling accounts when employees are terminated

Training / Documentation Support

  • Develop and conduct application training sessions for the various job functions within the organization
  • Provide training to Physicians in both one-on-one and small group settings
  • Develop and maintain user documentation to aid in training
  • Develop and maintain user documentation on operational processes and process improvement practices

General Administration

  • Attend continuing education courses as requested
  • Perform all other tasks requested by the Director of Information Systems

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Typical Physical Demands

Position requires extended sitting, some standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.  Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required.  Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.  Employee will work under stressful conditions and may work irregular hours. 

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment.  Occasional evening or weekend work.
