Responsible for working within all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, including property-casualty statutory reporting and preparation of property-casualty statutory statements.
Major Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly GAAP and property-casualty statutory work papers and journal entries in order to deliver accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reports.
• Review monthly journal entries, schedules and account reconciliations.
• Identify and propose changes to existing procedures in order to attain meaningful process efficiencies.
• Assist with all statutory premium tax filings, compliance requirements and recording of all other statutory licenses and fees for legal entities assigned.
• Responsible for all property-casualty statutory reporting, including preparation of the statutory quarterly and annual statements.
• Participate in regulatory financial examinations, completion and submission of all regulatory and compliance filings for all legal entities and other regulatory support where needed.
• Assist with preparation of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing.
• Manage inquiries from internal and external auditors.
• Responsible for on-going performance management, coaching and development of accounting personnel.
• Integrate with senior management on special projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in corporate accounting, property-casualty insurance experience required.
• Interacts effectively with all levels of the Finance organization and external parties.
• Develops effective working relationships across organizational lines.
• Clearly demonstrated sense of urgency and bias for action.
• Ability to work well under pressure and independently, and meet strict statutory compliance deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office software programs, including Word and Excel.
