SUMMARY
Apply principles of accounting to ensure the proper recording, verification, integrity and reconciliation of the General Ledger, based on GAAP. Provide leadership to up to 6 staff on the Accounting Team. Coordinate the following leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate and model personal spiritual discipline and develop an environment on the team where individual team members grow in their own Christian walks. Build a strong team by providing direction, delegation, counsel and expertise to individual team members and the team as a whole. Help establish and track clear expectations, objectives and measures for the team. Provide ongoing feedback on performance issues and institute appropriate consequence management techniques in order to continually improve the performance of the team and develop individual team members. Provide direction to the Accounting team on specific issues such as recording, verification and reconciliation of transaction information on the General Ledger, with an emphasis on Data Integrity. Verify the existence and accuracy of the necessary account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Provide expertise in the area of GAAP, ensuring all areas are in compliance with GAAP. Participate in FSG leadership team meetings and serve on other committees or task forces as required. Coordinate the recording and verification of subsidiary accounting information to enable consolidation of CCC’s financial statements. Interact with external auditors to prepare audited financial statements and footnotes. Maintain updated documentation of accounting procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of accounting procedures, systems and GAAP accounting. Ability to present financial information to a variety of groups. Ability to interact with senior level management. Ability to motivate, train, supervise, provide work direction, and evaluate personnel. Ability to use personal computer with Microsoft Office for Windows software, especially Excel. Ability to perform tasks with extremely close attention to detail. Ability to maintain accurate records and files. Ability to maintain positive attitude even during periods of heavy workload. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university and more than five years of professional accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
