Accounting  Manager will be required to:
Supervise all of the accounting functions of the accounting department including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and Cash Management. 

Manage the financial reporting process including month-end close, year-end close, preparation and review of financial statements. Perform functions to prepare the annual budget.  

Manage the year end audit process. 

Directly supervise the performance of the Staff Accountant, Sr. Accountant, and Collections Specialist.  Perform special projects as requested by the Controller.

Primary Responsibilities of Accounting Manager

  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures and routines. Close accounting modules for A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger. Maintain the chart of accounts. Reconcile general ledger to sub-ledger for A/R, A/P, and Fixed Assets.
  • Review and post all journal entries, A/R Sales Batches and Cash Receipts, A/P Invoice Batches, Fixed Asset additions & disposals and depreciation, and all bank transactions.
  • Review and record Payroll
  • Monitor Cash balances pertaining to all corporate bank accounts ensuring proper funding and proper reporting.  Transfer money between accounts. Review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Record all month-end expense accruals.
  • Review all general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Download, review, and integrate daily premium and accounts receivable activity from MGA system.
  • Prepare, create, and maintain all financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare the detailed annual budget for review with the Controller.
  • Analyze budget versus actual expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the Controller with financial analysis, report design, and special projects as assigned.
  • Support audits by external auditors, and provide documentation as requested. 
  • Prepare documentation, manually or electronically as required, and file periodic regulatory tax and reporting documents and payments including but not limited to sales taxes, Tangible Personal Property Tax, and Escheatable Credits for Abandoned Property. Ensure that documents are prepared and filed within prescribed timelines.
  • Interview, recommend, train, and initiate personnel actions as required.  Assign and check work and assist in the investigation and resolution of problems.  Evaluate performance of all accounting staff. Recommend staffing requirements as necessary.
  • Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.  Master’s Degree or M.B.A a plus.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of accounting experience with at least 2 to 3 years of supervisor experience preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Requires ability to apply independent judgment  in job duties with parameters established by Manager 
  • Requires ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines

  • Requires broad perspective and demonstrated effective decision making
  • Requires ability to represent The Fund and establish credibility
  • Requires excellent computer skills including MS Excel and MS Access.
  • Requires AP and AR knowledge and experience 
  • Requires extensive knowledge and experience in regards to financial ERP systems: Great Plains
  • Requires knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for the insurance industry.
  • Requires ability to train staff accountants in policies and procedures utilized at the Fund.
  • Requires ability to mentor staff accountants to excel professionally at the Fund.

Travel:
Position may require minimal travel.

Activities:  Physical requirements involve performing general office activities.
