FORKLIFT Operator

~~Primary Functions:

Must perform functions of any forklift position assigned to anywhere in plant.  Supply production lines with labels, cans, cartons, and supplies.  Unload/Receive supplies on shipping dock and warehouse them in a neat, safe condition.  Give relief in production/shipping areas per discretion of Supervisor.  Keep warehouse(s) in a neat and orderly condition.  Transport palletized product and may place in racks in cooler.  Pull cartons, boxes and any other needed supplies for production.  Maintain cooler in an orderly manner.  Load and unload palletized product on trucks and move drums with a drum handler.  Maintain a clean work area daily.  Load and unload palletized product on trucks.  Pull finished product from warehouses.  Pre-stage for loading on trailers.  Spot trailers at the dock and drop trailers in the yard with the yard tractor. Operate forklift to expertly handle Scholle bins, placing and pulling 3000 pound bins six high.  Placing drums or boxes of pulp on pallets and transferring these to the drum freezer room.  Pull finished product from palletizers.  Stacking finished product on mule train or in the warehouse.  Transport palletized product and place in racks in cooler.  Pull cartons, boxes and any other needed supplies for production.  Maintain cooler in an orderly manner. 

Secondary Functions:   May perform pulp recovery functions.  May assist with filling operations.  May perform barrel room functions.  Maintain a clean work area daily.  All other duties as assigned by management.

Skills: Ability to work  well with others in a fast-paced environment.  Visual and auditory acuity, hand and eye coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to access work area.   Ability to move palletized product.  Ability to discern and avoid safety hazards especially when driving.   Ability to climb on and operate a forklift.  Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.  Strong oral communication skills. 

Education and Experience Preferred: No formal education required.  Minimum of 6 months experience in a food production environment, preferred.  Minimum of 3 years forklift experience within the last 5 years.

Other:  Must have valid Florida driver license with no more than 6 points and pass in-house forklift driving test.
