Description of Work

This position is responsible for the daily activity at the Material Control Parts Counter assisting LYNX internal customers. This activity includes, but is not limited to, research to identify, issuing, recording the parts and material issuance and providing information regarding parts and material availability. This position reports to the Supervisor of Material Control and will take direction from higher-grade Technicians (Level II & III).

Because LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation, it is important for us to resume our services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural, technological, or human-caused emergency or disaster. Therefore, all employees are considered mission critical members of LYNX’ emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, may be asked to work during these emergencies or disasters.    

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Receives, stores and issues materials and supplies in a high-density storage facility with limited aisle clearance, shelving and pallet racks.
  • Assists Shipping and Receiving by counting, sorting, identifying, labeling, locating, storing and recording incoming items verifying receipt against orders.
  • Issues parts, tools and materials as requested within established guidelines and records issuance manually on work orders and in software applications.
  • Researches and identifies the correct part, material, availability and/or alternative resource for the most cost effective solution with our internal customer using software applications, parts manuals, bulletins and diagrams
  • Provides status reports on outstanding orders to our internal customers and communicates any change in need or urgency as the situation requires.
  • Assists with Internal Parts Requisitions (IPR) for new parts or special projects and documents recommendations for inventory adjustment and quality audit issues.
  • Receives, tags, locates, records and stores repairable item cores.
  • Operates material handling equipment to unload vehicles and move material between and within high-density storage facility(s). This equipment includes but is not limited to Fork Truck, Pallet Jack, Dollies, rolling tables and pneumatic lifts. 
  • Uses a personal computer and acquires skills in certain software programs. 
  • Completes daily activity reports and special projects.
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheet reports to document workload and material movement activity.
  • Performs physical counts, examines stored materials and records accurate results.
  •  Drives a LYNX vehicle to pick up, drop off or transfer materials or parts.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Knowledge of proper handling of HAZMAT products/materials and related items.
  • Knowledge of bus or automotive parts.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations with a positive customer oriented attitude.
  • Skills in analysis and organization with attention to details.
  • Skills in the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, Fleetmate and Great Plains Dynamics Software.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to process accurate documents.
  • Ability to assimilate information, make sound independent decisions and communicate the information.
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to work any shift in a 24-hour/7 day per week operation.
  • Ability to communicate parts issues effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, walk (including up/down stairs), use of material handling equipment and lift up to 70 pounds repetitively with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to provide and maintain proof of a valid Florida Driver's License for any employee using a company vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate in English on the work site. 

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • One (1) year of inventory control and Forklift Industrial Operator’s license/ experience is helpful.

** This position is scheduled to work Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am **
Pay rate: $11.08 to $12.67 per hour plus $0.50 shift differential
