Example of Duties:
• Prepares scope of work for a given project or study which may require data gathering, specifications, plans, diagrams, schematics, equipment/materials and cost estimates for required aspects of the project or study.
• Project and study scope also includes project management and quality control of work done by parties associated with the project or study. May assume lead responsibilities over lower level employees.
• Designs and uses CAD to prepare construction drawings for various Public Works Projects.
• Assists other divisions and City departments on multi-disciplinary projects and studies.
• Acts as a representative/liaison to other departments, organizations, and government agencies involved in the projects or studies.
• Acts as a representative/liaison with residential and commercial developers in all phases of the development.
• Evaluates and reviews plans for residential and commercial developments then provides comments to assure compliance with City Standards.
• May direct the efforts of Engineering Technicians and Inspectors assigned to facilitate the engineer's tasks.
• Prepares SWFWMD Permit applications and makes field inspections to assure existing facilities are in proper repair and functioning.
• Acts as a representative/liaison to outside government agencies for purposes of obtaining environmental permits for City projects
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in engineering or construction.
• Three (3) years of experience in related engineering work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a valid state of Florida driver's license. The employing division will indicate which class of license and/or endorsement is required.
• Must maintain a valid telephone number.
• May be required to pass and maintain qualification for:
a. Respiratory Protection Physical
b. Pulmonary Function
c. Qualitative and Quantitative Fit Test(s)
