Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Must have the following in order to apply:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent plus two (2) years on the job training to include considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience; or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance; or any combination of education, training and experience
• Experience in 2 stroke engines
• Experience with 12 and 24 volt DC troubleshooting and repair
• Experience with the use of power and hand tools
• Experience with the use of diagnostic equipment, acetylene and electric arc welding
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Able to work a flexible schedule and extended hours including weekends and holidays, as needed
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Must follow written and/or verbal instructions
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, fabrication and electrical systems

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulics would be helpful

Required Screenings: Drug testing/screening; background checks; credit checks. Job Description: Under limited supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, rebuild and repair vehicles and equipment
• Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Prepares and maintains records and reports, including job costs
• Prioritize repair jobs as they come in
• Keep inventory up to date
• Compare prices on new parts and equipment
• Able to work flexible hours and overtime when necessary
• Assign work and supervise mechanic assistant
• Must furnish own tools
• All other duties as assigned

Work Environment: Indoor/outdoor. Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Hiring Process: Employer will conduct two (2) face-to-face interviews. Days & Hours: Full time position; hours vary. Complete schedule will be discussed with the applicant. Drug Free Workplace
