The ideal candidate provides expert level knowledge in addressing all aspects of data storage. This role is responsible for solution design, product evaluation, technology implementations and upgrades, and managing data lifecycles.
The storage architect defines the storage architecture for HMH based on business requirements, manages existing storage platforms, manages migrations to new storage platforms and establishes practices for monitoring of storage consumption and resource management.
The employee in this role provides second tier support to all operational groups on storage platforms. Successful storage architects must be able to readily translate business goals into storage technology requirements and will guide our transition from traditional storage to cloud based solutions.

The Technology Group at HMH is a dynamic group of technology professionals dedicated to the nimble delivery of quality educational content for a digital age. Not your traditional IT house, the HMH Technology Group actively partners with teams across HMH to develop, build, manage and enhance both internal and customer-facing applications and platforms across a diverse range of digital channels. Required Skills:
Familiarity with the following storage technologies: o SAN infrastructure - including Fiberchannel and ISCSI implementations o NAS technologies o Cloud based storage mechanisms (i.e. AWS S3, Box, virtual tape libraries) o Network file shares o Backup and recovery software (i.e. NetBackup, Legato or other) Experience working hands-on with EMC Clariion arrays, EMC Celerra NAS, StorageTek/Quantum tape libraries or comparable storage hardware. Basic knowledge of core Microsoft OS stack components including host virtualization, monitoring technologies and storage virtualization. Familiarity with commonly used software licensing methods and license accounting practices. Strong listener, verbal and written communicator, and negotiator. Capable communicator of technological information to business leaders Job Requirements Required Qualifications
5 years' experience in storage management (enterprise systems operations or systems engineering roles) College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline. Alternatively the candidate must show a history of extensive work experience in the field of storage management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Appropriate vendor certifications in storage management.
