Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse shall interact with the residents during the shift, and assist the residents with functional needs.  The RN shall ensure a safe and therapeutic environment at all times.  The RN shall take physician orders, prepare and administer resident medications, and facilitate outside diagnostic or medical services that are ordered by the physician.  

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Experience:

• Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse. Prefer six (6) months in psychiatric nursing.
• Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration. Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.

• License/Certification: Current CPR certification. Requires valid State license as a Registered Nurse

Skills:

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to communication in a clear and concise manner with residents, families, all members of the interdisciplinary team and with the managed care representatives.
• Must have good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Must be flexible regarding program needs.
• Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs.  Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.
• Other: Performs other duties as may be assigned.
