Repairs and paints transit vehicle interior and exterior components; repairs structural transit vehicle members. This is a semi-skilled position.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
Knowledge of:
• Basic methods, materials, tools and equipment used in automotive body work and/or painting of vehicles.
• Working knowledge of occupational hazards, precautions and safety requirements of the associated job duties.
• Care of materials, i.e. decals, metal, glass and wood.
Required Ability to:
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritizes assignments in order to meet established deadlines.
• Ability to learn safe operation of transit vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of personalities.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance, when required.
• Ability to work various shifts, hours and days.
• Ability to meet attendance requirement.
• Ability to be an effective team player.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Automotive and fender rebuilding and repairing, painting and welding.
Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
Machines, Tools and Equipment Used:
• Paint and body tools.
• Computer programs: Word, Excel, e-mail systems features, etc.
• Office equipment: printer, calculator, fax, copier, telephone mail systems, etc.
Licenses/Certifications:
Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class (B) with “P” (Passenger) endorsement.
Special Requirement:
• Inventory of all necessary paint and body tools.
• A working home phone number.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Physical & Visual Activities:
• Constant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and speaking.
• Visual acuity necessary to perform all duties.
Physical Demands:
• Frequent periods of walking and sitting.
• Frequent periods of standing and squatting.
• Occasional periods of lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
• Exposure to extreme noise when interfacing in the shop areas. Decibel range of 85+ duration on an occasional level.
• Exposure to mechanical hazards, fumes/odors, paints and chemical hazards in the shop areas.
• Subject to all weather conditions.
