The Informatics Associate position requires a willingness to learn and the desire to exceed expectations. Ideal candidates are extremely detail-oriented and analytically-minded individuals.

Our ideal candidate holds both experience and exposure to laboratory science and technology as well as having an aptitude for programming and software.

We will consider two types of candidates for our Informatics Associate role. We will consider candidates with a background in laboratory science who hold exposure and experience in coding as well as candidates who have a background in computer science with collegiate level laboratory science courses and an interest in scientific knowledge.

 

 Position Overview

Our Informatics Associates are hired to join our Center of Excellence located in Orlando, FL. In this role, we will engage our new Associate with a two-month paid training program, which is designed to provide them with the knowledge and skills to be successful members of our growing organization. Our goal is to provide our Associates with a career path that enables them to pursue professional excellence and serve as a means to foster the development of LabAnswer's future leaders. Employees must commit to relocating to Orlando, FL for 12-18 months of development. We train our Associates to become Consultants to serve our clients by providing quality work. Once our Associates are promoted from the training program, we work with them to prepare for their next step, which can include to continued work and leadership within the Center of Excellence, relocation to another site in the United States, which can include to continued work and leadership within the Center of Excellence or relocation to another site in the United States.

 

Required Skills and Attributes 
· Bachelor Degree in either Laboratory Science or Computer Science 
· Example degree programs are Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, and similar programs 

· Those with a background in laboratory science should hold programming skills in one of the applicable programming languages, e.g. C, C++ C#, PHP, Perl, VB.NET, Objective C, Python, Java, Pascal 

· Those with a background in computers should have strong programming capabilities and collegiate level laboratory science courses, e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry

Desired Skills and Attributes 
· Understanding of basic programming concepts and the ability to learn new proprietary languages 
· Experience writing SQL Statements 
· A Strong Work Ethic 
· Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills 
· Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
