Mechanical Inspector

CLASSIFICATION:    Mechanical Inspector

HOURS:    40 Hours Per Week

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Graduation from high school or vocational school or equivalent; preferably supplemented by college-level course work in Mechanical Engineering, and some experience as a Mechanical Inspector. Possession of certification as required by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as a Mechanical Inspector and a Mechanical Plans Examiner. Must be in possession of a current/valid FL Driver’s License and maintain insurability under the District’s commercial vehicle coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    Inspects and supervises the testing of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, hoods and fuel gas systems and related equipment and installations. Ability to prepare and maintain complete and accurate records and to make effective reports concerning work performed. Work involves inspecting a variety of blueprints and installations to determine whether plans, specifications, workmanship, and materials conform to legally established requirements. Duties require that a large part of the employee's time be spent in an office dealing with the public. The employee of this class checks plans and performs routine office duties, consulting with a technical superior. The responsibilities listed are not a complete list of required functions of the position; other duties may be assigned as necessary.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:    Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms, talk and hear.  Occasionally required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel or crawl.  

SALARY:     Wage ranges between $1,097 and $1,430 per week.
