CLASSIFICATION:    Electrical Inspector

HOURS:    40 Hours per week

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Current State of Florida Certification as an Electrical Inspector. Graduation from high school or vocational school; preferably supplemented by college-level course work in Electrical engineering. Must have at least ten years of experience in the Electrical Trade. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Must possess a valid Florida Driver License and maintain insurability under the District's commercial vehicle coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    Responsibilities include electrical installation and equipment inspections; review of electrical plans and specifications for EPCOT Electrical Code compliance; ensure that circuits are capable of operating without overloads; compile reports and issue notices regarding noncompliance; confer with and advise applicants and design professionals of Electrical Code; investigate incidents. Thorough knowledge of possible defects and flaws in electrical wiring and appliances and of corrective measures. Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques involved in constructing, installing, maintaining, and operating a variety of electrical systems, equipment and appliances, and of standard testing devices. Thorough knowledge of all laws and regulations governing electrical installations.  Ability to read plans and specifications and to determine their compliance with established standards.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PAY:    Weekly pay ranges from $1,097 – $1,430.
