Duties:

  1. Familiarity (or previous experience assisting) with Quality Management protocols related to inspection surveys
  2. Responsible for the support of all company policies
  3. Assist in maintenance of a safe and clean working environment. This may include unloading boxes and organizing supply rooms
  4. Provide safe and effective delivery of patient care through compliance with standards outlined in the policy and procedure manual
  5. Responsible for reporting and documenting all new or unusual incidents, information, complaints or problems to the supervisor or manager. Miscellaneous filing at all MDI contracted hospitals. Able to set up the Althin and Fresenius machines and able to obtain water cultures as needed Take inventory and order supplies

Education:

  • High-School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Education in the physical sciences and or laboratory techniques preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 months previous dialysis patient care experience in a hospital setting or dialysis clinic

Requirements: 

Orientation intensity will be based on the current experience level of each individual and will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Proof of PCT Certification
  • Completion of Althin Self Test
  • Completion of the Fresenius Test 
  • Completion of CPR
  • Completion of hospital orientation
  • Ability to accurately describe the portable DI system in its entirety, and explain the purpose of each component

Relationships:

Interact with other direct-care staff, support staff, physicians and the management team in a positive and courteous manner.

Patient Related:

  1. Provide direct and safe patient care under the immediate supervision of a registered nurse
  2. Accurately document pertinent information on patient record when appropriate
  3. Assist the RN with pre and post dialysis patient assessments
  4. When patient arrives in the Unit, weigh patient, connect the EKG leads and place the Patient on the monitor. Do not put the patient on dialysis without an assessment by the RN. 
  5. Report any significant information or change in patient condition to the RN immediately
  6. Assist with emergency operational procedures as needed
  7. Assist in transportation of patient to and from dialysis unit when needed.
  8. Assist in patient nutritional support
  9. Assist the RN in performing Accuchecks

Technical:

  1. Able to safely operate all Hemodialysis related equipment
  2. Able to troubleshoot equipment alarms when needed
  3. Familiar with all emergency equipment
  4. Familiar with all PPE (personal protective equipment) and Isolation protocols
  5. Follow protocols for obtaining monthly water cultures on all machines
  6. Complete the water log and disinfection logs per policy and procedure
