Job Title:     Senior Accountant – Capital Programs
Unit:     Administration        
Reports To:     VP Finance & Accounting

BASIC PURPOSE:

Perform advanced accounting and administrative duties specifically for the Capital Programs administered by Enterprise Florida, Inc., to include, but is not limited to, the venture capital programs, bond financing, equity investments, loan guarantees and loan participations.  Work performed is expected to be with limited supervision and will include a review for compliance with company objectives and policies, as well as state and federal grant requirements.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES or TASKS:

 

  • Maintain the general ledger records and prepare various account reconciliations, statements, and financial reports related to the capital programs.  Research and correct any errors or problems noted during review of outside organization reports or filing documents.  
  • Review debt and equity agreements to determine the correct accounting for transactions.  
  • Track, record, and amortize loan guarantee and participation fees.
  • Prepare, submit, review, and/or approve capital programs-related wires.
  • Monitor weekly cash flow, pending deposits, and payments to ensure adequate program cash flow.
  • Prepare and update various statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for management, state, and federal agencies.  
  • Assist with all financial and compliance audits to ensure timely completion of the audit(s) with minimal interruption of daily activities.  
  • Other duties outside of the capital programs area may be assigned to meet the business needs of the accounting department.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITIES:
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical skills and the ability to train others.
  • Maintain efficient and effective work methods/procedures.
  • Ability to document work processes and program information
  • Understand and complete complex oral and written communications.
  • Assemble and organize data, and prepare reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, the general public, and others in a courteous and professional manner.  
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • CPA designation required.
  • Master’s degree in accounting (or additional courses to obtain CPA license) with five to ten years progressive accounting experience in government, not-for-profit, or public accounting.
  • Prior experience with federal and state grants compliance, specifically related to single audits. Strong contract compliance background can be substituted for grant compliance work.
  • Understanding of debt and capital financing accounting.
  • Ability to utilize business software applications with a strong emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite of products. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which experiences many interruptions.
  • Effective use of business English to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
