Faculty Pool - Recording Arts Lab Specialist

Summary:

This opening is for general consideration for Lab Specialist positions within the Full Sail University Education Department. Lab Specialists ensure lab tutorials and/or lab assignments as defined by Course Director are completed.  They maintain professionalism in the lab environment and assist students with technology and project implementation. This position requires music industry experience as well as strong practical knowledge in the areas of Sound Fundamentals, Music Production,Recording and Post-production. Technical and practical knowledge of standard recording gear and techniques as well as Digital Audio Workstations required. The position is part time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches labs for Recording Arts Degree Program
  • Mentors, assesses, and provides feedback to students
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Full Sail University
  • Adheres to company attendance standards
  • Position requires scheduling flexibility - including, but not limited to, overnight hours
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four years related and verifiable experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Recording Arts, Music Technology or related field. Candidates applying will be reviewed for various open teaching positions. Depending on the course level, requirements will be varied based on our Accrediting Commission (ACCSC).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Pro Tools Operator Certification is a plus

Skills:

  • Digital Audio Workstations (Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase)
  • A working knowledge of recording principles and techniques, console signal flow, the recording chain and microphone techniques
  • A working knowledge of album production, studio operations and etiquette
  • Word processing and presentation software

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a recording studio, project studio, computer lab environment, or live event production facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and support staff, and interact appropriately with computer systems, and audio, video, and lighting production equipment as necessary.  May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
