Faculty Pool - Show Production Lab Specialist

Summary:

This opening is for general consideration for Lab Specialist positions within the Full Sail University Education Department. Lab Specialists ensure lab tutorials and/or lab assignments as defined by Course Director are completed.  They maintain professionalism in the lab environment and assist students with technology and project implementation. This position requires music industry experience as well as strong practical and formal knowledge in the areas of live event production, audio and lighting systems, audio visual technologies, and/or concert media design.  The position is part time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches labs for Show Production Degree program
  • Mentors, assesses, and provides feedback to students
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Full Sail University
  • Adheres to company attendance standards
  • Position requires scheduling flexibility - including, but not limited to, overnight hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four years related and verifiable experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in show production, music technology, or related field. Candidates applying will be reviewed for various open teaching positions. Depending on the course level, requirements will be varied based on our Accrediting Commission (ACCSC).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None

Skills:

  • Skilled in the use of outboard hardware effects, plug-ins, console control surfaces, and automation, along with many other digital audio workstations operations
  • Understanding and skills necessary for running Front of House and Monitor systems, cabling and signal flow
  • Knowledge of basic audio, lighting, and video equipment and production techniques used for live presentations
  • Experience in show equipment preparation,troubleshooting and set-up
  • Word processing and presentation software

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a recording studio, project studio, computer lab environment, or live event production facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and support staff, and interact appropriately with computer systems, and audio, video, and lighting production equipment as necessary.  May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
