Faculty Pool - Emerging Technology and System Engineering

Summary:

The Emerging Technologies and Systems Engineering bachelor of science degree program prepares students around Information Technology topics including systems virtualization, information security, integrating public and private clouds, and building reliable networks to transport all types of information and media.  Students learn how to implement current technologies to create cloud-based software-defined data centers that scale quickly and effectively with user demands. We are currently seeking instructors with experience in Information Technology and related areas Course Directors may be required to teach both on-campus and online. This position is part-time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates an environment of learning by ensuring excellence in teaching skills and classroom content, student-centered focus, and assisting with curriculum to keep current and relevant to industry standards
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning
  • Create learning activities, including assignments, tests, quizzes and labs, and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and feedback practices.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses, and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through effective assessment and feedback practices.
  • Interact positively with students, treat students with respect, provide all students with equal opportunities for learning, and work with diverse student populations
  • Provide timely, regular responses and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry, maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan

Supervisory Responsibilities: May oversee associate course directors and lab specialists to ensure integrity of curriculum and degree learning outcomes.

  • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple term

Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years related and verifiable work experience and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Networking, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Industry certifications including CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCA/VCP, or similar are a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Base knowledge of Information Technology systems architecture, enterprise-level system redundancy, and industry best-practices
  • Experience in the last five (5) years with the installation and configuration of one or more Information Technology systems, including: server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), hosting platforms (web, e-mail, database), data networks, storage networks/systems, configuration/automation management (Puppet, Chef), cloud management platforms, network security, or deploying via public cloud IaaS.
  • Use of desktop or enterprise virtualization software, including VMware, VirtualBox, KVM or similar products.

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office and classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active student and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
