Microbiologist

Primary Functions:

Perform microbial plating, product analysis, compile reports, manager customer related sample shipments, maintain samples and paperwork, maintain and order supplies for testing.  Perform follow-up work on Hold products.  Perform GMP inspections with reports, formulations, maintain shelf-life samples

Secondary Functions:

All other duties as assigned by management.

Skills:

            Ability to work independently with little supervision.  Ability to think sequentially, troubleshoot, and use problem solving/decision making skills to assist management in corrective action.  Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.  Ability to work well with others in a fast paced environment.  Ability to demonstrate good aseptic technique.  Strong math skills.  Good written and oral communication skills.  Visual and auditory acuity, hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to access work area.  Familiarity with MS Work, Excel and Access programs.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• 2 years minimum experience with microbial testing in a food production environment.
• 1-3 years in beverage or citrus environment preferred.
• May substitute some experience with college credits in science related fields.
