Job Title:       Radio Technician (am and pm shifts)

Department:  Engineering

Reports To:    Facilities Project Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Description of Responsibilities: A "jack of all trades" in a sense. Monitors work orders throughout the shift through the HotSOS work order system either via phone or terminal access. Performs the work required for each work order accepted and makes follow up notes in the HotSOS system. The scope of work will vary greatly and will generally involve handyman work and general household repair work such as, but not limited to; plumbing, painting, wood work, sheet rock work, caulking, carpentry, minor electrical repairs, minor HVAC repairs, and pest control/removal. May be required to go through Certified Pool Operator training to serve as an occasional back up to our full time Pool Operator.

This individual maintains a positive attitude and a high degree of flexibility, which allows them to shift focus throughout the day without becoming rattled. This person understands their role and willingly pitches in where ever help is needed.
This person interacts regularly with Guests and Volunteers on a regular basis and represents Give Kids The World Village in a manner that meets or exceeds the Villages Core Values.

Requirements: The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
-The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
-The employee will be regularly exposed to sun, extreme heat and humidity, occasional rain and occasional cold.
-The employee will work in both noisy and quiet conditions.
-This position requires specific vision abilities, which include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
-The employee will regularly be exposed to moving parts.
-The employee must comply with work scheduling and attendance requirements, realizing that staffing needs and emergencies may involve weekends and extended hours of work.
-The employee must dress appropriately for the position and project a positive appearance.

Qualifications, Experience and Education:
-High school graduate
-Must possess a wide range of skills and experience performing handyman type work, which will include inspecting, assessing, making repairs, installing and replacing defective or non-working parts. Work will include but not be limited to; performing light electrical and plumbing work, light carpentry and furniture repair, light electronics assembly and installation, mechanical work and many other assorted duties.
-Ability to safely set up and operate machine tools
-Ability to effectively use measuring instruments
-Ability to spec parts for replacement
-May be required to take an “in field” competency test to demonstrate skill level
