Special Projects / Light Commercial department is looking for: Journeyman Electrician
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing electrical wiring duties in a commercial setting with relatively little supervision. Journeyman will read blueprints; coordinate and set up large cable pulls; install switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, and other electrical gear; and perform other electrical duties related to general construction operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform commercial electrical duties with little to no supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints; follow designated job specifications.
- Perform basic motor control wiring duties.
- Coordinate and set up large cable pulls.
- Lay out electrical work.
- Install switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, and other electrical equipment as needed.
- Pull wire, knowing circuiting.
- Direct work of employees with less experience. Assist these individuals as needed.
- Apply knowledge of National Electrical Codes as needed.
- Perform trenching and excavating work. Install underground conduit as needed.
- Saw, drill, cut and grind as needed.
- Clean up job site daily.
- Receive and deliver material to employees.
- Install devices, trim, and lamp fixtures.
- Bend larger conduit with mechanical or hydraulic benders.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to read and write at a minimum 9th grade level.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Local Journeyman’s license preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of National Electrical Codes plus a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in commercial electrical work.
