CLASSIFICATION: Electrical Inspector
HOURS: 40 Hours per week
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Current State of Florida Certification as an Electrical Inspector. Graduation from high school or vocational school; preferably supplemented by college-level course work in Electrical engineering.
- Must have at least ten years of experience in the Electrical Trade. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Must possess a valid Florida Driver License and maintain insurability under the District's commercial vehicle coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities include electrical installation and equipment inspections; review of electrical plans and specifications for EPCOT Electrical Code compliance; ensure that circuits are capable of operating without overloads
- Compile reports and issue notices regarding noncompliance; confer with and advise applicants and design professionals of Electrical Code; investigate incidents.
- Thorough knowledge of possible defects and flaws in electrical wiring and appliances and of corrective measures.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques involved in constructing, installing, maintaining, and operating a variety of electrical systems, equipment and appliances, and of standard testing devices.
- Thorough knowledge of all laws and regulations governing electrical installations. Ability to read plans and specifications and to determine their compliance with established standards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
PAY: Weekly pay ranges from $1,097 – $1,430.
