Quality Control -Lab Tech

Primary Functions:

1. Collect and analyze in-process and finished product samples for conformance to quality specifications.

2. Record analytical data on score sheets and enter into computer database.

3. Inform appropriate Production and management personnel when analysis deviates from specifications.

4. Collect production and customer samples; pack and arrange shipping of samples as requested.

5. File Q.A., Production and USDA paperwork kept in Q.A. lab.

6. Control pumping of caustic cleaning solution to plant locations.

7. Prepare chemicals required for lab tests.

8. Perform minor maintenance of laboratory equipment.

9. Ensure overall lab cleanliness and organization.

Secondary Functions:

1. All other duties as assigned by management.

   Skills:

   Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.  Strong math and written/oral communications skills.  Visual and auditory acuity, hand and eye coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to access work areas (climbing stairs).  Subject to adverse temperatures; requires lifting up to 50 pounds; requires organoliptic (tasting) skills; some personal computer skills required. Ability to learn, analyze, and record results of lab tests. Ability to perform the job functions in a timely fashion consistent with industry norms and the employer’s experience of the time required to perform the functions.  Ability to follow instructions and get along well with co-workers.  Requires self-motivation and initiative.

   Education and Experience Preferred:

               High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

               Minimum of 6 months experience in a food production or laboratory environment.
