VA Certifying Official

Summary: 
The Certifying Official is responsible for processing and managing Veteran's education benefit paperwork in accordance with Federal and State guidelines. This will include but is not limited to document and eligibility verification, while providing notice to the Department Of Veteran Affairs of student’s schedule, attendance and tuition billed. 

Additionally, the Certifying Official is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of all Veterans Education benefits, as well as the regulations of the Department of Veteran Affairs and institutional policies. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
· Process and manage Veteran's education benefit paperwork in accordance with Federal and State guidelines 
· Calculate and certify VA Education benefits and entitlements for Military students and dependents 
· Provide prospective and incoming enrolled and actively attending students with assistance and guidance to successfully finance their education using their VA education benefits 
· Assist students and parents through in-bound/out-bound calls, e-mail, and in-person office visits 

Other Responsibilities: 
· Adhere to policies and procedures of Full Sail University 
· Maintain strict confidentiality of company and personnel information 
· Adhere to company attendance standards 
· Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience: 
· Bachelor’s degree and/or one year of experience working in a secondary school service department required 
· Previous administrative and customer service experience in a professional office environment required; Experience certifying VA benefits and/or Financial Aid knowledge a plus, but will train an otherwise qualified candidate 
· Applicant must not currently be or have ever been in default on any student loans. 

Computer/Equipment Skills: 
Must be experienced using a computer, basic Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), CampusVue or similar computer data system, and other internet-based programs. 

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands: 
Work is performed in an office environment. Physical requirements include remaining seated for extended periods of time while using a PC keyboard, calculator and/or telephone. Employee must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., M – F, in addition to occasional weekends and overtime as needed.
