DISTRICT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, YMCA of Central Florida - Winter Park 

The YMCA of Central Florida is seeking a dynamic cause driven leader to direct and oversee the day-to-day operations and staff as the District Executive Director. Our full-service YMCA Family Centers are located in Winter Park, Florida. The district has a combined budgeted trend growing to $6 million, employing 120 staff and a growing membership base of 5,500 units. Both locations have undergone renovations and are equipped with some of the latest technologies. Critical competencies include – wellness and aquatic operations, program development, outcome and standards measurement, collaborations and fiscal management.

S/he must be a team motivator with the ability to create an environment that delivers exceptional customer service to grow membership and program participation. Under the direction of the District Vice President, the District Executive Director will direct and supervise all aspects of the district family center operations, including two annual fundraising campaigns to exceed $300,000.

This individual will be an example of Y core values and will demonstrate them through programs and service offerings that reflect the needs of the community to retain existing members and engage prospective members. S/he must have political savvy to work effectively in several unique partnerships the Y has with the Orange County government, a local health foundation, Orange County Public Schools, and the Dr. P. Phillips Foundation.

Candidates will be challenged to provide a successful track record in strong fiscal management including the growth of revenue dollars, the execution of innovative programs, and membership services. S/he will be responsible for recruiting key community leaders and board members; create and implement well-conceived development/fund raising plans to achieve short term and long term objectives, and will lead the initiative by marshaling the resources of the board, soliciting private donations (individuals, corporations and foundations), and conducting financially successful events.

A key objective is to expand the capacity of the family centers to educate and better serve the community by engaging individuals in the Y’s three areas of focus: healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.  Our Association is enjoying tremendous growth while providing national leadership in the areas of unique health strategies and community collaborations. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; field of Business, Management preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management in health and wellness is essential; YMCA experience strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Oracle and Technogym experience a plus.
