JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the people, profits and guest experience of a high volume retail operation, delivering a clean, safe, fast and fully-stocked convenience store. This individual is responsible for boosting profitability through driving sales, controlling expenses, and managing products and vendors. The Store Manager leads and supervises a team of employees to ensure accountability in store operations, specifically the execution of speed of service and providing the best guest experience possible. This individual also acts as an ambassador for RaceTrac in his/her area, ensuring visibility in the surrounding community.

 

Duties and Responsibilities Include: (Scope of the role, day to day activities, expected outcomes, highlights any complexities associated with the role)

  • Sets a leading example of RaceTrac’s Core Values, Leadership Qualities and the RaceTrac Way to entire team.
  • Directs, plans and allocates the work of store team members, both on and off the Store Manager’s assigned shift.
  • Creates work schedules and approves proposed leave and overtime for store team members.
  • Supervises, coaches, trains and develops store team members.
  • Provides feedback on employee performance and development to regional support staff.
  • Fosters positive and professional relationships with co-workers, communicates respectfully, and maintains a consistent team-oriented attitude.
  • Appraises and documents employees’ productivity and efficiency for the purposes of recommending promotions or other changes in status.
  • Responsible for the store’s profitability and ensures the strong financial performance of the store by among other things budgeting and reviewing P&Ls.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with Store Support Center teams (Marketing, Category Management, Food Programs and Offers, etc.) in order to continuously improve the product offerings and marketability of RaceTrac.
  • Communicates daily, weekly, and monthly financial performance and goals to direct supervisor.
  • Regularly performs competitor surveys in the surrounding market.
  • Ensures all monthly promotions and sales opportunities are reflected in pricing changes and new signage.
  • Greets and provides prompt, efficient and courteous service to new and regular guests.
  • Ensures that guests’ expectations are exceeded by providing exceptional care and speed of service.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for any employee and guest concerns.
  • Builds, maintains, and leverages partnerships with local organizations and municipalities.
  • Supervises and participates in daily store operational activities as needed, including processing guest transactions and ensuring the store is clean and well-maintained.
  • Drives accountability for maintaining a clean and safe environment on RaceTrac property.
  • Ensures all equipment is fully functioning and up to RaceTrac standards.
  • Determines the type and quantity of merchandise to be bought, stocked and sold, with the goal of all products being fully stocked at all times.
  • Supervises the processing and control of inventory and the flow/distribution of materials, merchandise, and supplies, including serving as primary contact for receiving deliveries from vendors.
  • Manages vendor relationships through effectively tracking and upholding contractual agreements related to damaged product, store equipment and vendor equipment, etc.
  • Supervises and monitors adherence to all safety-related regulations, including food safety regulations, and provides ad-hoc training as needed to ensure best practices for quality and safety.
  • Effectively manages the yogurt offering by ensuring equipment is operational, product and supplies are fully in stock, and cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
  • Manages the maintenance of store inventory in a neat and organized manner.
  • Communicates and follows up on any outstanding maintenance issues.
  • Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to repeatedly bend, stand, and reach while on the job, with no or infrequent breaks.
  • Keeps gasoline price sign up-to-date outside of store in accordance with the method of that location.
  • Must have access to a motorized vehicle at all times while on shift.
