Maintenance Technician - Part Time

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the general maintenance of The Crayola Experience exhibits, manufacturing equipment, and facility. Assists with the set-up and tear down of exhibits and activity areas for programs and special events in the facility. Helps to load and unload shipments and maintains order in basement storage areas.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists with preventive maintenance and repairs of machinery, AV equipment, exhibit components, and facility systems (lighting, plumbing, HVAC). This can include, but is not limited to, general painting, minor carpentry work, and minor plumbing.
• Assists with exhibit installations and teardowns
• Assists with troubleshooting problems and helps to determine when external assistance is required (contractors) and what parts to order
• Assists with loading and unloading deliveries of supplies for TCE, TCS, and the facility. Will need to be a certified fork-lift operator certified by Crayola
• Responsible for maintaining order in the basement storage of TCE supplies and materials
• Will be required to use power tools for repairs Will need to change lights and make minor ceiling repairs using a power lift or ladder
• Back-up for Manufacturing Show when needed
• Required to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for the operation.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• Demonstrate mechanical ability.
• Previous maintenance experience or technical training required.
• Must be self-starter, organized, and able to work independently.
• Experience with variety of power tools.
• Required to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for the operation.
• Ability to operate fork lift and use power lift and ladder.
• Must work according to established procedures and maintain safety of the work environment frequented by young children and families and must be aware of safe work habits at all times.
• Some knowledge about children’s safety issues/concerns helpful.
• Must be able to lift and/or move equipment, exhibit components, move tables, chairs and supplies.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts (i.e. outside contractors, repair technicians, facility visitors, and staff).
• Must be able to assist with snow removal and sidewalk salting in the winter and sidewalk power washing in the other seasons.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hand and arms. The employee must frequently lifts and/or moves over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
