About the Role
The Merlin Entertainments Head of Sales – Florida role will be responsible for developing and implementing a Sales and Marketing plan for LEGOLAND Florida Resort and the Orlando Merlin attractions (The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds Orlando, and SEA LIFE Orlando) to deliver volume, revenue and yield targets across agreed trade channels and for the research, qualification and introduction of new routes to market to support strategic objectives and budgeted EBITDA.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops a sales strategy on a local, regional, national and international scale to support Central Florida Merlin attractions, securing revenue, sales and attendance goals, including traditional distribution channels and electronic web-based distribution models.
- Gather and analyze market information on sales techniques, competitor activity and market trends to ensure Merlin is leading the field in trade sales and marketing
- Monitor trade performance on a weekly basis making necessary tactical adjustments to the Sales plan to ensure a positive performance is delivered; cascading these to the immediate team and wider Merlin trade team as appropriate
- Responsible for key yield management in all sales distribution channels ensuring maximum revenues at any given period. Works with other Marketing Managers and Marketing Director to ensure all ticket distribution channels have a uniform pricing/timing strategy to meet or exceed budgeted visitor spend.
- Responsible for hiring, training, development, performance management, team building, and other culture and people management activities, develops and leads a professional, efficient, and effective Florida Sales Team.
About you
Requires significant and progressive years of experience in sales and program management in a theme park, hotel or resort, the attractions or tour and travel industry, preferably managing a portfolio of parks or attractions. A significant portion of this experience must be in the Orlando/Tampa marketplace. Experience managing of team of direct reports with a proven track record of empowered management in engaging and developing teams is essential. Requires in-depth knowledge in the areas of strategic marketing and sales, sales program development and operation, selling and sales techniques with a track record of success in developing and implementing strategic, operational, and tactical sales plans (preferably for a portfolio of parks or attractions). Requires the ability to build business partnerships and linkages with industry, community and business groups and sectors to position and promote Florida Merlin attractions. Must work effectively with a variety of people with multiple priorities and diverse work styles. Exposure to public and community relations, promotions, and visitor services is helpful. Ability to set and manage against objectives and schedules, and effectively plan and manage internal and external and resources. Requires demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships, making presentations, negotiations, and verbal and written communications. Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products is required.
