Description of Work
This position is responsible for planning, developing, and managing marketing strategies and activities that help market LYNX in the community and help manage departmental workflow.  Will also be responsible for tracking and reporting of departmental financials.

Because LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation, it is important for us to resume our services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural, technological, or human-caused emergency or disaster.  Therefore, all employees are considered mission critical members of LYNX’ emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, may be asked to work during these emergencies or disasters. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Selects, mentors, coaches, supervises, motivates, develops, trains and evaluates the performance of assigned team members.
  • Manages the development and implementation of organizational strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Creates and implements marketing communications campaigns to increase public awareness of LYNX that works to retain, replenish, and increase LYNX’ customers and ridership, also resulting in a positive public image of LYNX.
  • Develops marketing communications plans to support strategic initiatives and makes corresponding budget and timing recommendations.
  • Evaluates projects and schedules and assigns marketing projects/programs.
  • Manages and evaluates success of programs and projects; reports results; recommends and implements changes as needed to ensure increased ridership and improved public awareness and image.
  • Edits and proofs marketing communications material for maximum effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Participates in ongoing planning and developing of annual departmental communications/marketing plan.
  • Represents LYNX through presentations and outreach at community groups and professional organizations.
  • Assists department chief with corporate initiatives, projects or program partnerships.
  • Cultivates and maintains communication channels with key external entities and decision-makers in order to assess, promote, and enhance ridership.
  • Manages internal cross-functional relationships and communications with other departments to achieve synergies, e.g., Customer Service, External Affairs and Government Relations, Information Technology, etc. to ensure attainment of departmental business objectives.
  • Evaluates available resources relative to costs, budget and time requirements and makes recommendations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of marketing strategies, tools, and marketing plan development, including ability to create new marketing programs to create ridership and awareness.
  • PC experience with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to conduct self in an appropriate manner as a representative of LYNX, working effectively in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate good leadership and managerial competencies, including integrity, accountability, communications skills, and commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to conduct marketing research and analyze data.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills including delivery of oral presentations.
  • Ability to select, coach, supervise, motivate, train, develop and evaluate staff through demonstration of managerial and leadership competencies, including integrity, accountability, communication skills, and commitment to teamwork and excellence.

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing atmosphere with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly prioritize work to meet assignments with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to attend events outside of regular business hours throughout Central Florida.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, community leaders, board members, customers, coworkers and those doing business with LYNX.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle; must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License; must have an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

The functions of this position are generally conducted in an office environment with extended periods sitting at a table, desk or workstation with use of a computer; normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, and color perception; work involves periodic bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking; requires dexterity in operating office machines and equipment; periodic need to carry items for short distances weighing up to 10 pounds.  Periodic fieldwork for events in varying environments.


Minimum Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, business administration, journalism,  or a related field plus five (5) years of experience performing professional level work developing and implementing marketing, public information, or community relations programs with an emphasis on public service and community outreach .  Qualifying experience must include at least one (1) year of supervisory or lead responsibility over assigned professional staff.  Additional related experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for the required education based on a ratio of two (2) years of experience for each one (1) year of education.

Preferred:

  • Three (3) years of experience supervising professional staff.

Salary Range:  $ 52,839 to $60,435 per year plus benefits.
