Faculty Pool - Entertainment Business Lab Specialist

Winter Park, Florida

Summary:
The Entertainment & Music Business programs provide a well-rounded and in-depth study of the fundamentals of business and management, focusing on how those skills can be applied in the entertainment and music industry. Throughout the degree programs, students work in a professional, project-based environment, designed to recreate the challenges and opportunities they’ll encounter in the world of entertainment business.  Foundational business topics include studies in management, marketing, accounting, finance, communications, and law, laying the groundwork for more advanced industry studies including business models, global media management, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, audience metrics, and more. This position is full time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates an environment of learning by ensuring excellence in teaching skills and classroom content, student-centered focus, and assisting with curriculum to keep current and relevant to industry standards
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning
  • Create learning activities, including assignments, tests, quizzes and labs, and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and feedback practices.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses, and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through effective assessment and feedback practices.
  • Interact positively with students, treat students with respect, provide all students with equal opportunities for learning, and work with diverse student populations
  • Provide timely, regular responses and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry, maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan

Supervisory Responsibilities: May oversee associate course directors and lab specialists to ensure integrity of curriculum and degree learning outcomes.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple term
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently or collaboratively with other teachers and university staff
  • Ability to interact with students and staff at all levels in a fast paced environment

Education and/or Experience:
The ideal candidates must have a minimum of four (4) years related and verifiable work experience or hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Mac proficiency preferred
  • Strong public speaking and classroom management skills
  • Proficiency with Web 2.0 tools, including Google Docs, YouTube, social media, and virtual collaboration tools
  • Audio/video editing skills preferred

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office and classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active student and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
