Automation Engineer - PLC

Provide programming and troubleshooting support to manufacturing organization in the plant utility, juice distribution, and juice packaging areas and functions.

Responsibilities:

Design, install and maintain PLC software, HMI’s and other PC software for plant equipment & networks.

Develop control system validation/testing protocols.

Proficiently program in Ethernet technologies, DeviceNet, ControlNet, serial communications.

Work primarily with Allen Bradley PLCs.

Work with bulk, plastic, and paper packaging systems and equipment; Conveyors, blending equipment, bottle de-scramblers, labelers, fillers, casers, palletizers.

Identify, analyze, and solve problems in compliance with all statutory, customer, and parent company requirements.

Use Microsoft Office & AutoCAD software. Learn and use other software as required.

Work with and communicate with management on issues which arise that could adversely impact operational performance of the facility.

Write, review, train & maintain equipment SOPs and lock-out-tag-out    procedures.

Communicate & coordinate with vendors to assure compliance with terms of purchase orders or contracts and compliance to all company requirements.                   

Develop P&IDs and loop descriptions for various plants, processes, and/or equipment.

Specify and purchase process instrumentation.

Specify and purchase PLCs, drives, and other electrical components and equipment.

Develop scope of supply documents.

Install, test, and start-up control systems on-site.

Train operators and maintenance personnel on control systems.

Maintain current & future training plans & activities for self with regards to safety, quality, PSM, GMP, food safety, customer requirements, and equipment operation, maintenance, and repairs.

 Qualifications:

Minimum five years’ experience with PLC programming & troubleshooting in the dairy/food/beverage industry is required.

Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
