Developer

The Developer analyzes business needs, creates strategies to address them and tactically codes the solutions.  Additionally, they will modify/maintain the existing software as needed.  This role develops, modifies and maintains applications that may be customized or standardized and participates in design and coding activities with other staff members.  The successful candidate will work to eliminate project timeline risks and backlog deployment due to lack of consulting resources and serve as the single point of knowledge in ERP code,  SQL, and functional web portals.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 30%      Discover functional requirements to write and modify software to meet business needs
• 60%     Design, write, and debug code to create functional solutions with user friendly interfaces.  Applications may be stand alone or linked to other applications or services
• 10%     Perform final escalation level support for codebase and programs that use it

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

• Support of developed programs
• ERP system non-UI support

OTHER DUTIES

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.  Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Village Farms International, Inc. from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

• Staying up to date on current technologies
• International travel to other company locations required

• This position operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

• Recognition of existing system functions in order to use or copy with modifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years’ .Net development, MS SQL queries and reporting
• Minimum 3 years’ ERP system development
• Microsoft AX 2009 programming and consumer goods experience a plus
• C# Programming and SSRS Reports with complex formatting

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

• Microsoft Developer and DBA Certification preferred
