Course Director - Advanced Networking Technologies

Winter Park, Florida

Summary:
The Advanced Networking Technologies Course examines the design, deployment and management of modern network architectures. This course builds upon basic knowledge of networking to further apply those concepts to converged data, storage and media networks, how to prioritize and shape traffic, and design considerations for multiple tiers of networks. Students will learn how to build distributed networks that are reliable and highly available in order to transport multiple types of traffic utilizing virtual and physical devices. Course Directors may be required to teach both on-campus and online.  All positions are full time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create an environment of learning by ensuring excellence in teaching skills and classroom content, student-centered focus, and maintain curriculum to keep current and relevant to industry standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning.
  • Create learning activities, including assignments, tests, quizzes and labs, and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses, and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through on-campus and online delivery.
  • Interact positively with diverse student populations; provide all students with equal opportunities for learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry, maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Oversee associate course directors and lab specialists to ensure integrity of curriculum and degree learning outcomes.

Education and/or Experience:
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years related and verifiable work experience and required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certifications including Network+, Cisco CCNA or higher are a plus.

Skills

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience implementing the following technologies: Ethernet, VLANs, IPv4/v6, subnetting, routing protocols, ACLs, SPI firewalls, and wireless technologies
  • Can configure networking devices and integrate with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Solid understanding of queuing and traffic prioritization over L2/3/4 technologies is required
  • Experience with the design, installation and configuration of distributed and multi-tier enterprise-level networking hardware and software is preferred
  • Experience planning and implementing 10GbE or 40GbE network technologies is preferred
  • Experience integrating software-defined networking with physical network infrastructures is
  • preferred.

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office and classroom environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active student and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
