Youth Development Director, Osceola Y

The YMCA of Central Florida is seeking a Youth Development Director at our Osceola YMCA Family Center in Kissimmee, Florida. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Youth Development Director provides leadership and management in the areas of: sports, aquatics, child development, summer camp, and teen programming. This individual manages member participation and retention through the development and execution of youth development programs to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service to all members. S/he will implement parent/child enrichment programs that promote retention of existing members and engagement of new members. This individual will direct staff to support youth development initiatives to achieve retention goals. S/he implements programs within their areas of scope that promote retention of existing members and engagement of new members. The incumbent must be a team motivator and leader to direct staff to support youth development initiatives to achieve retention goals. The Director will analyze data, systems and processes to recognize growth and retention opportunities within the Youth Development department.

S/he will ensure proper implementation of youth development schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staff connections. This individual must be a team player to collaborate and work effectively with all departments and leaders to achieve desired results. The incumbent will utilize available technology, reporting tools and data that enhance youth development participation and member retention. This individual will coordinate and schedule multiple staff department schedules, as well as scheduling equipment maintenance and repairs. Finance acumen and prior experience managing a budget is necessary. S/he will monitor daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of Central Florida health and safety standards and policies. This individual will perform administrative tasks; ensure all staff are current with required certifications. S/he must have flexible availability to work during peak times of business that will include early mornings, week days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; sports management, recreation management, physical education or related field of study preferred. 
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of progressively responsible experience in sports, child development, aquatics, teen, and summer camp programming required.
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of progressively responsible experience in staff supervision and leadership required.
  • YMCA sports, youth development, or operations experience strongly preferred.  
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of each program offered to members and program participants.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Oracle experience a plus.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Must have proven experience in program growth, specifically in the areas of: youth and adult sports and aquatics.
