The Episcopalian Diocese of Central Florida seeks an energetic, detail oriented person who has a passion for excellence to oversee all aspects of communication for the Diocese in a Communications Director capacity. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diocesan Communications:

  • Support the pastoral ministry of the Bishop and the Diocese with creative use of communications and information technology including but not limited to: print, web and social media.
  • Develop an overall communications strategy for the Diocese with input from key stakeholders.
  • Include increased focus on the use of technology to enlarge the volume of communication delivered as well as expanding the audience addressed.
  • Provide guidance and support for the communications efforts of parishes, schools, and other diocesan agencies.
  • Coordinate Communication Advisory Board, which shall be responsible for providing multifaceted communication perspectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant online media experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and presentations.
  • Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well organized; must be a team player.
  • Be able to travel and be available for evening and weekend work as necessary.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapting appropriately in a ministerial environment.
  • A vital and active prayer life             

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in communications, public relations, mass media, marketing, journalism, or related field.
  • Three years experience in a communications related field.

Special Skills Required:

  • Comfortable with various forms of electronic communication (e.g. social media, web, etc.).
  • Familiar with audio or visual alternatives.

HELPFUL SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with the Episcopal Church and culture
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
